Open Bite
Open
bite refers to a condition whereby the top and bottom teeth do not meet. The cause could be skeletal or it could be due to a habit. If the cause is from a habit such as thumb
or finger sucking, cessation of the habit during the growing years will allow the bite to improve spontaneously. If the habit persists after cessation of skeletal growth, or
the open bite is skeletal in origin, then jaw surgery will be needed for full correction.
