Smile Gallery - Deep Bite

Deep Bite

A deep bite refers to when there is excessive overlap between the upper and lower front teeth. Ideally, there should be an overlap of 1-2 mm. Deep bites can be caused by over eruption of the front teeth or over closure of the lower jaw. Treatment is usually non-extraction with full braces, unless there is severe crowding of the teeth involved. Jaw surgery is indicated if the main problem is skeletal in origin.
